Attacks continue against El Rebollero, Cuatro Venados; We call for solidarity

To Sexta nationally and internationally

To the free and independent media

To national and international civil society

To the National Indigenous Congress

To the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación Nacional)

Comuneras, comuneros, inhabitants of El Rebollero, El Paraje Los Arquitos and Río Minas, of San Pablo Cuatro Venados, Oaxaca, we denounce: that after the strong attack that a paramilitary group carried out on May 28, where they attacked us with bullets and destroyed the houses of the community, this Wednesday, June 15, around 7:00 pm, they entered our territory once again. In several vehicles, with armed people on board, they headed towards Paraje La Mesa and from there they fired shots for almost an hour.

Since they destroyed the houses and crops, there are women, children and elderly people who are sheltering themselves with the little that is left in the community, there are no safe conditions to work the land and take care of the animals. It is clear that they want us to leave here to make way for mining projects, the sale of lots for housing, so that they can exploit the water and the forest. But we will continue here, defending our mother earth.

For this reason we call on our sister and brother adherents to the national and international Sexta, to the free and independent media, to civil society in general, to join and show solidarity with the Campaign in support of the community of El Rebollero, Los Arquitos and Río Minas.

The campaign is called: “For the reconstruction and care of dignity in resistance”, and consists of the collection of food, clothes, blankets, mattresses, tarpaulins, feminine towels, toilet paper, alcohol. Sheets, nails, wire, solar cells, work tools, etc.

Two spaces have been set aside to receive solidarity in kind:

In Mexico City it will be with the Otomi Indigenous Community residing in the CDMX, Casa de los Pueblos y Comunidades Indígenas “Samir Flores Soberanes”, formerly misnamed INPI. Located at: Av. Mexico-Coyoacan 343, Col. Xoco. Benito Juárez, CDMX. M. Coyoacán. Hours: 08:00 to 20:00 hrs. from Monday to Sunday.

In the city of Oaxaca the address is: Porfirio Díaz 1105, Centro Oaxaca, in the bookstore La Jícara.

We will be presenting, along with members of the CIG-CNI Oaxaca, a documentary that has recorded part of the events in these communities. The appointment is for Wednesday 22nd at 6:30 pm at the Librería la Jícara.

We call on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, national and international human rights organizations and the media to be attentive to what is happening in our community, since we have exhausted all government agencies to denounce these abuses and have only found deaf ears and complicit positions with the paramilitaries.

For the reconstitution of our peoples, never again a Mexico without us.

Sincerely

Comuneras, comuneros, inhabitants of El Rebollero, El Paraje Los Arquitos and Río Minas, of San Pablo Cuatro Venados, Oaxaca.
