About 20 teenagers imprisoned at the Bridge City Center for Youth took over parts of the building Thursday night in an uprising.
One prison guard was injured during the uprising.
The uprising came the same day that five teenagers escaped through a hole they cut in a bathroom ceiling. As on Friday morning, one of the escaped teens was still free, having successfully evaded the prison guards and police.
The uprising started around 10 p.m. and lasted about two hours.
At least 20 escapes
The teens’ escape comes after several recent breakouts from the Bridge City Center for Youth. In April, a 19-year-old broke out of the facility, striking a prison pig as he broke free.
A month earlier, five teenagers broke through the ceiling, crawled into the attic and escaped through a side exit. Before that, in November, three other teens escaped.
At least 20 imprisoned teens have escaped from the Bridge City Center for Youth in just over a year.
