Yesterday Peruvian police captured Ivan Quispe Palomino, one of the (former?) commanders of the Militarized Communist Party of Peru. Ivan Quispe, 49, who was wanted since 2013, was arrested in Lima with forged papers in what the police claimed was a “random police check” near a metro station in the Peruvian capital. The authorities portray him as the “No. 2” of the PCPM, which is a triumphalistic announcement and is openly contested even by the police – some even believe that he had no responsibility in the PCPM for years. He is the younger brother of Victor Quispe Palomino, alias “Comrade José”, the main commander of the PCPM. After being captured, Quispe Palomino was taken to the functional forensic unit East 1 for examinations. He will then be made available to the police station in La Huayrona.
