To all with the same vocation of freedom and justice:
Two and a half weeks ago, a beloved priest and defender of life was murdered in broad daylight in San Cristóbal de las Casas. This Monday, November 3rd, thousands upon thousands of his followers packed the streets of the city to demand justice for his murder and an end to the violence and impunity in the state.
His example, and theirs, is a beacon of light in dark times. A path of righteousnous in the name of peace, in the name of justice for the people.
On the morning of November 6th, those who walk this path in the U.S. awoke to the painful revelation that our struggle for a world where many worlds fit will be much more complicated. But WE ARE NOT AFRAID. We will organize, build webs of connection, and RESIST the cult of death. We will accompany those who suffer, and work to build autonomy, dignity and that which is common to all of us.
As the compañerxs Zapatistas shared in the Declaration for Life:
We will make the pains of the Earth our own…And we will fight, everywhere and at all times against this system …What allows us to move forward is the listening to and the observation of the Other that, distinct and different, has the same vocation of freedom and justice.
