On December 28th and 29th, San Cristóbal de Las Casas will host the first session of the International Encounters of Resistance and Rebellion organized by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN). On the 30th and 31st, the Zapatista festival and the celebration of the end-of-year dance will take place at the Zapatista Caracol in Oventik.
Signed from the mountains of the southeast by the insurgent Sub-commander Moisés, the program of participation in the international meetings of the EZLN was presented. They will be held at the Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas AC Indigenous Center for Comprehensive Training – Universidad de la Tierra Chiapas (CIDECI-Unitierra).
On Saturday, the first panel will be at 12 noon, it is called “The Storm: the Crime, the Executioner and the Victims.” Participants: Jorge Alonso, John Holloway, Carlos Aguirre Rojas and Iván Prado. The panel Zapatista Rebellion and Resistance. Part I Genealogy of the Zapatista Commons, which will be given by Insurgent Sub-commander Moisés and members of the CCRI-CG of the EZLN. And ‘’The Crow’s Nest: A Long-view to Yesterday” by Insurgent Captain Marcos, which are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
On Sunday, December 29th, 2024. The events will start at 12:00 p.m. with the panel “Rebellion and Resistance Part II. Women” which will feature the participation of Anselma, an Otomi woman from the “Samir Flores Soberanes” House of the Peoples and Indigenous Communities; Sylvia Marcos and women commanders of the EZLN; as well as authorities from the Assemblies of Collectives of Zapatista Autonomous Governments.
The panel “Zapatista Rebellion and Resistance. Part III. The First Steps of the Zapatista Commons” will follow, which will be chaired by Insurgent Sub-commander Moisés, members of the EZLN and promoters of the Zapatista Autonomous Health System.
At 5 p.m., Insurgent Captain Marcos will give “The Crow’s Nest: Signals for Tomorrow.”
