The spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier-General Yahya Saree announced the downing of an American MQ-9 drone over al-Hodeidah district.
Since November 2023, the YAF have downed 15 American-made MQ-9 drones. Each drone costs over $30 million.
The last drone shot down over Yemen came on January 1, 2025, when the YAF announced they had successfully shot down an American MQ-9 drone with a locally made surface-to-air missile while it was conducting hostile missions in the skies over the province of Marib.
In a statement, Saree confirmed that this drone is the second of its kind to be successfully downed by Yemeni air defenses in 72 hours, and the 14th drone since the launch of the support front in defense of the Gaza Strip and Palestine.
Saree emphasized that this operation comes “as a victory for the suffering of the Palestinian people and their fighters and as part of the response to the American-British aggression against Yemen.”
The Yemeni Armed Forces announced their readiness to resume military operations to confront Zionist violations as Yemen’s position remains steadfast in supporting the Palestinian people and their Resistance, Ansar Allah’s political bureau stated.
In a statement, the political bureau of the Yemeni Resistance movement warned that “the Zionist enemy’s continued violation of the ceasefire, culminating in the complete closure of Gaza’s crossings to aid, is a dangerous escalation.”
“The Palestinian people have the right to resist Zionist arrogance and all war crimes committed with the support and encouragement of the terrorist US administration,” it further stated.
It also urged the Arab summit, set to be held on Tuesday in Cairo, to take a firm stance against Zionist war crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories and to adopt practical measures to protect civilians and break the siege. Furthermore, Ansar Allah called on Arab states to support the Palestinian cause and collaborate to confront the widespread aggression “targeting the entire nation without exception.”
Ready for military intervention
Previously, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement, said Sanaa is continuously monitoring and observing developments in Gaza amid the occupation’s complete evasion of its commitments to the ceasefire agreement.
In a late February speech, Sayyed al-Houthi also revealed that Yemen was prepared to intervene militarily had Trump carried out his threat to restart the war on Gaza if Hamas did not release the Zionist captives.
“Yemen remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian people and Resistance factions in confronting the occupations attempts to evade the ceasefire agreement and its second phase,” al-Houthi emphasized, warning that if the war is reignited in Gaza, “the entire Zionist entity, starting with occupied Yafa, will come under fire,” amid the Yemeni support and military intervention.
