An anti-guerrilla operation was launched on Thursday, October 6, led by the 94th infantry battalion of the Philippine Army in Western Negros. This operation gave rise to new clashes whose assessment is two soldiers killed and six others injured in Barangay Carabalan.
Aviation support was needed to clear the troops from the guerrilla fire and to evacuate the wounded. The guerrillas disappeared in the jungle when the air bombings began.
Four clashes took place in this isolated village until Saturday afternoon. The fighting caused the evacuation of hundreds of families from Barangay Carabalan and Barangay Cabadiagan and other villages.
