At the same time, the fake demobilization of the “H” gang in Nariño is consummated. In the so-called region of the Two Rivers, a scenario of war against the communities and razing of the territory is orchestrated.
Region of the Two Rivers, has been called the wide area that comprises 26 municipalities, located 6 in the sub-region of Bajo Cauca, 2 in the northeast of Antioquia, 5 in the center and south of Cesar, 11 in the south of Bolivar and 2 in the Magdalena Medio Santandera, located where the Magdalena and Cauca rivers meet.
The communities of this territory have been denouncing, demonstrating and confronting for decades the paramilitary action, which seeks to implement the scorched land policy and dispossess the communities and peoples that inhabit it. In recent years, these attempts and attacks have claimed the lives of important social leaders of the region. Always with the help and support of the State its Armed Forces and the paramilitaries.
Militarization and attacks
The XIX Brigade was installed this week, which will consist of three infantry battalions, a logistics battalion, a rapid deployment battalion, a special forces battalion and an explosive ordnance handling group. Gen. Luis Emilio Cardozo Santamaria, commander of the army, said.
Within a week of the deployment of the brigade, there are reports of paramilitary incursions into areas of the north–east of Antioquia. There are reports of detentions, kidnappings and killings by paramilitaries of the Gulf clan. Some communities have been forced to displace.
Two years ago, communities staged a strike in the region denouncing and demanding that Petro’s government fulfill campaign promises about confronting paramilitarism and stopping genocide against social leaders, and declared a humanitarian emergency. Human rights organizations, national and international NGOs have noted the conditions of siege in the area, as well as the connivance of the State Armed Forces with the paramilitaries.
The situation not only continues but tends to worsen, as President Petro has been implementing a declaration of war on the territories. The arrival of more military force associated with paramilitarism, only leads to more crimes against the population. There is great concern about what is happening in the Dos Ríos region.
With the nefarious confirmation of the implementation of a warlike policy against the communities, in addition to the obvious links and deals of the high government with the drug gangs, recycled in a new paramilitarism, the specter of hope for change that existed in the current government, which basically ends up burning its ‘last cartridges’ simulating a false peace, while attacking and multiplying the war on entire communities and regions.
