Police Ambushed by ELN

PUBLIC STATEMENT

The alliance that the Police maintains with paramilitarism and criminal gangs such as the Tren de Aragua, the AK47, the Porras gang, the Pepino gang is clear. A recent example of this criminal alliance was the massive escape of 5 inmates, all linked to gangs operating in Cúcuta and the border, who were detained at the Villa del Rosario Police Station, last Sunday, April 6.

Just 6 days ago in this same municipality, 6 uniformed officers of this institution who were part of these gangs were captured, not counting the other arrests of police officers that have been registered in previous months at the stop, Villa del Rosario and Cúcuta. What security is General Willian Quintero talking about when his own subordinates are an active part of the criminality that plagues not only Villa del Rosario but the entire metropolitan area?

Not only do they deny the clear and historic alliance between the Colombian State and paramilitarism and in the face of the inability to solve the difficult situation of criminality that the city is experiencing, as a good formula learned from State terrorism they resort to false positives; proof of this was the news that was published on May 20, where it is misreported that a member of ELN was killed in combat with the government Army near the Model Prison of Cúcuta; we confirmed that the murdered person was alias “Pocho” who belonged to a criminal gang in the area, where days before they banished two women from the area. This gang operates in alliance with the army and the police.

On May 24 at 8:30 p.m., units of the FGUN, in a punitive action, ambushed a patrol of the Special Operations Group of the Police (GOES) with rifles, in Villa del Rosario, Norte de Santander. This resulted in the casualty of the deputy superintendent of the Police attached to the GOES, Luis Alfredo Argote Rincón, with 5 years of experience in this operations corps. And the mayor Édison Oswaldo Porras Carreño is seriously injured, the Hilux patrol in which they were traveling is also incinerated. Our units are withdrawn without incident.
