In a series of interviews with Arabic and English-language media, Khaled Barakat, Palestinian writer and member of the Executive Committee of the Masar Badil: Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement said, “The United States and ‘Israel’ are responsible for launching an aggressive war against Iran that will become a long, protracted war, with serious consequences for the aggressor.”
Barakat said, “The Zionists must prepare themselves for the kind of war that they have never experienced before. They must give up the idea that they can commit genocide and attack countries throughout the region while living in their comfort zone, and that Palestinians, Lebanese and Yemenis will be subjected to massacres while they enjoy the shores of Palestine with no consequences. That era is over.”
Speaking as the Islamic Republic of Iran began to retaliate against “Israel” following its ongoing aggression, Barakat called upon Zionists to “voluntarily depart” from occupied Palestine. “Zionists should leave Palestine immediately and find other places to live their lives. We urge them to do so, while they can do it voluntarily and before they are forced to do so.”
“This is a different kind of war. This colony is trying to impose its will on hundreds of millions of people of the region through genocide and violence and expected that it can do so with impunity,” Barakat noted.
“We have said since October 7, 2023, at the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Flood, that the Zionist project will be exposed before the people of the entire world,” Barakat said. “In fact, Trump and Netanyahu are going to go down in history as two leaders who have contributed greatly to the end of ‘Israel’ on our land.”
He emphasized the global outrage against Zionist genocide in Palestine and the worldwide support for Iran’s right to defend itself. “The camp of resistance has never been as united as it is today. The response by Iran is a response that represents 2 billion Muslims and the free will of the people of the world, and not only the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“The changes that are taking place are not limited to the borders of Palestine,” Barakat said. “They destroyed and occupied Iraq and Afghanistan, took the lives of millions, funded and armed sectarian projects aiming to destroy sovereign countries, and are currently trying to impose their ISIS mercenaries upon us under a new cover, while demanding normalization with an aggressive, expansionist Zionist project. The U.S. will be forced to leave our region — and Africa, Asia and Latin America. The process of liberation of the Arab world has begun a qualitatively new state on October 7, 2023.”
Barakat saluted all of the popular initiatives to break the siege on Gaza, from the Freedom Flotilla seeking to break the siege by sea to the Sumoud Convoy traveling by land through north Africa. He emphasized that the Zionist entity and the United States are not the only parties responsible for the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, as well as in the “Israeli” aggression against Iran and the region.
“Europe — especially states like Germany, Britain and France, who continue to play an active role in arming genocide and encouraging aggression — is complicit in these attacks as well as the Arab Gulf reactionary regimes allowing ‘Israel’ to use their airspace,” Barakat said. “Even their hollow condemnations mean nothing while they host military bases for US imperialism. There is no future for the Zionist project in our region and on our land, and those who continue to provide it with weapons and impunity will be held accountable.”
