Saharawi Political Prisoner Begins Warning Hunger Strike in Morocco

The Saharawi political prisoner and member of the Gdeim Izik Group, Abdalahi Luali Lejfauni, who is confined in the central prison of Kenitra, in Morocco, decided this Thursday, July 3, 2025, to start a warning hunger strike for a period of forty-eight (48) hours, today Thursday and tomorrow Friday, according to sources from the League for the Protection of Saharawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons, an NGO from the occupied areas.

According to the same source, “the reasons for this peaceful action carried out by the political prisoner Abdalahi Luali Lejfauni are in response to the decision of the prison administration of the Moroccan prison to confiscate his radio set that he used to inform himself of what is happening at the national and international level, as well as the confiscation of personal belongings that include his diaries and the archiving of the correspondence he maintained with the relevant parties to denounce the precarious circumstances of imprisonment in which he finds himself”.

It should be noted that the prison administration of the same Kenitra prison had sprayed pesticides last Thursday in the cell in which the Saharawi political prisoner Abdalahi Luali Lejfauni is held, a fact that caused the Saharawi activist to suffer asphyxiation, without allowing him to receive the first aid or medical examination he needed.
