🏥 After being discharged from the Gendarmerie Hospital a few days ago, Mauricio Hernández Norambuena was waiting to be transferred back to the Rancagua Penitentiary Complex, where he is serving his sentences. According to the Gendarmerie, the transfer was due to a lack of cars.
🔴 When his family arrived to visit him, they learned that today he has just been transferred to the Special High Security Penitentiary Enclosure (REPAS, former UEAS or CAS), without there being any reason for this change of establishment.
⚠️ This is very worrying. In this facility, an isolation prison regime is developed, in which prisoners do not have face-to-face visits (only by call center), they can only access 2 hours of courtyard, there are no visits from friends, there is no access to sports or cultural activities, among other dire conditions. Basically, this is a regime of TORTURE.
😤 It is shameful that while Mauricio has a trial in the Inter-American Court precisely because of the isolation he experienced in Brazil, the government of Boric (Frente Amplio) and Minister Gajardo (Communist Party) insist on applying an inhumane regime, internationally characterized as TORTURE.
📢 We call on you to spread this situation, agitate for Ramiro’s prison conditions and intensify the mobilizations for his release from isolation and return to the Rancagua Penitentiary Complex.
