Brigitte Asdonk, co-founder of the Red Army Faction (Rote Armee Fraktion – RAF), died on Monday, September 15. Born in Kamp-Lintfort in 1947, she participated in the release of Andreas Baader from prison in Berlin in 1970, as well as in several bank robberies. She was arrested on 8 October 1970, along with Horst Mahler and other members of the RAF, and sentenced to twelve years in prison in 1973. She was released in 1982. Even in her later years, Asdonk remained active in the internationalist, anti-militarist movement and regularly participated in demonstrations.
