On March 19, 2020, following a large police operation, 60 people were arrested. During a search, the police and members of the Greek intelligence services had discovered, in the district of Sépolie, near the center of Athens, a cache containing anti -tank weapons, Kalashnikovs, pistols and hand grenades. Finally, eleven revolutionary activists from Turkey were sent back to court. They were accused of being members of the DHKP-C, active in the armed resistance against the Erdogan regime (the discovered weapons being, according to the judgment, intended to be sent by the sea to Turkey).
The first instance trial had started on July 2, 2021 and, about 16 months later, they were sentenced to 333 years in prison. They were released during the appeal trial which has just been held in Athens.
