Shea Reynolds and Dee (Damian) Duffy, Irish republicans sentenced to 11 and a half and 12 and a half years in prison respectively, received their sentences on December 19, 2025, following a trial held before a court without a jury in Belfast. They were accused of installing a surveillance camera in the driveway of a retired police officer’s home in Northern Ireland to gather information for an operation against him. The defendants’ silence, exercised as a right in the face of a system they denounce as colonial, was allegedly interpreted as an implicit confession.
