In Italy, the court in L’Aquila sentenced Palestinian activist Anan Yaeesh to five years and six months in prison for “terrorist association,” while Ali Irar and Mansour Doghmosh were acquitted. Accused of links to a resistance group in the occupied West Bank, Yaeesh had been detained since January 2024 and attended the verdict via video conference. Despite a sentence less severe than the prosecution had requested, the defense and support committees denounced a biased trial based on Israeli intelligence, as well as the denial of the right of peoples to resist occupation. This case is part of a broader context of prosecutions against several Palestinian activists in Italy, accused based on Israeli allegations.
