A New People’s Army (NPA)-Mindoro (Lucio De Guzman Command) unit fired first against 203rd IBde troopers that was attempting an attack on March 23. The fascist military failed to inflict any damage on the NPA-Mindoro unit stationed in Sitio Danlog, Barangay Monteclaro, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro Province that morning.
The unit’s spokesperson Ka Madaay Gasic said the Red fighters valiantly fought before safely withdrawing the entire unit without casualties. He said the battle disproves the 203rd IBde’s lies that no people’s army remain in the island of Mindoro.
He added that incidents like this show the NPA continuously frustrates the reactionary government’s aim to wipe out the revolutionary movement on the island under the “whole of nation approach.” The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is intensifying its attacks against the people’s army and even civilians under the National Action Plan for Unity, Peace and Development (NAP-UPD) of the US-Marcos regime.
Gasic further said the heavy, destructive and burdensome militarization against the Mindoreño masses only pushes peasants and the indigenous Mangyan people to align with the NPA. He said they demand accountability and justice against the fascist 203rd IBde and police forces.
“The overflowing determination of Red commanders and fighters continues in advancing the armed struggle to defeat the AFP-PNP-CAFGU forces, the number one enemies of the Mindoreño masses,” Gasic declared.
