Northern Ireland: New IRA Claims Attack on Police

The New IRA group claimed responsibility for a bomb attack on a PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland) post, the Northern Ireland police created in 2001 after the so-called peace agreements to replace the Royal Ulster Constabulary, in Lurgan. In a statement marking the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, the organization says it remains committed to a revolutionary struggle against the British presence and claims its capacity to strengthen and strike again. Furthermore, a Republican commemoration in Derry took place under heavy surveillance, with isolated incidents involving young people.
