Words for compañero Punki Mauri by Joaquín García Chancks
From the other side of the walls, I extend an affectionate and anarchic embrace to all those who participate in this already historic activity.
It is incredible the passage of time, it would be terribly false of me to speak of a closeness to anarchist circles back in 2009, I think I felt part of an anarchist collectivity, if you can call it that, shortly after, enough for the loss of a comrade to still be felt so close to the surface.
Mauricio Morales transcends, he is an inevitable reference for many -no matter how hard one fights to destroy that idealized and stereotyped image that this same anarchic “we” has been in charge of propagating through time- that is the truth, one cannot think of May without considering this date, one cannot whisper attack without thinking of Mauricio, one cannot conspire to attack without the palpable experience that sometimes things do not work out well; It is what endows history with reality, what makes us shake off all the theory and put our feet on the ground, the seriousness of what confrontation means, the knowledge that what may be so costly for us will not be so costly for Power…. To assume that no action will bring us an anarchic tomorrow, that the becoming is lived day by day, and that the only way to obtain a little bit of freedom is to embrace antagonism as a present, of theory and praxis, word and action, morality and attack. If we are to find something clear, almost undeniable in Mauricio, let it be this symbiosis.

Words by Marcelo Villarroel in subversive memory of Mauricio Morales
“I will seek at the risk of my life the best, the authentic freedom…”
-Mauricio Morales.
– From prison and 14 years after the death in action of comrade Mauricio Morales, a greeting of insurrectional memory and an eternal war cry for all those who walk the same path of struggle.
On the night of May 22, 2009, a powerful explosion shook the surroundings of the Gendarmerie School, a prison repressors’ factory, in the Matta neighborhood, in the south-central area of Santiago de Chile.
The explosion mortally wounded the Punky Mauri, who was on his way by bicycle to attack with an artifact, the main redoubt for the formation of penitentiary officers, seeking to strike with anarchic vengeance the place from where the most detestable beings that prison society can produce are mass-produced.
At that time, I was a prisoner in the Newken prison in the territory dominated by the Argentine state where we learned of such sad news that at first did not give names but in a general way the lurid details of such a terrible event.
As the hours passed the doubts were dissipating and Mauri appeared with his clear face announcing his departure, only physical, which did nothing more than eternalize him in the conflict against all authority from where he accompanies us, without any doubt, until today in every rebel act, in every insurrectionary gesture, in the daily struggle against the prison society.
Even though we knew each other and shared in more than one broad initiative, we never walked together, we were never friends and even less direct companions in any concrete initiative of struggle and for me this has never been an impediment to vindicate his decision to fight, his choice of life, his word and certainly the great legacy of his music.
To say that 14 years after his departure, his name has been written and claimed in every language imaginable, covering the whole world from his clear anarchic position and in the same language of war. Those around the world who fight against the nefarious prison legal framework, for the total destruction of the prison society, know that the Mauri accompanies them without hesitation.
Fourteen years after his physical death, the war against power and authority in this territory continues?
As well as the anarchic subversive minority combating in the streets and resisting in the prisons, articulating initiatives, maintaining an insurrectionary memory that does not stop.
Fraternal embrace to all those who keep their legacy alive, to those who claim it in the axion, to all those who do not forget neither the prisoners, nor the fugitives, nor those who have fallen in this fight to death for total liberation.
Nothing is over, everything continues!
As long as there is misery there will be rebellion!!!

Words for comrade Punki Mauri by Monica Caballero
Every 22nd of May is a difficult day… since that damned 22nd of May 2009. Although despite all the difficulties, as it was before and still is, the constant repression and the immense sadness, some would take as a daily practice, the commemoration of the death of Mauricio Morales, a practice that managed to establish and transcend beyond those of us who loved him and were his comrades. The fact that today we remember that Mauri died trying to attack the gendarmerie school is the result of the persistence of all of us who feel affinity with the comrade’s action, in denying oblivion.
A day in which we remember a frustrated action against the gendarmerie is the perfect moment for us to take up, continue or create instances against our current legal/punitive system, to give more and better content to the struggles against prisons, that the anti-prisoner action be materially forged and concrete.
The destruction of our chains is an individual, constant and daily task, the one that expands and cements with others who love and hate in pursuit of the search for total liberation.
For the destruction of the prison society, long live anarchy!
Mauricio Morales presente!
