On the evening of April 18, 2024, some anarchic individuals joined the commemoration of comrades Erick Rodríguez and Iván Palacios, in the exact place where they died in combat.
It was the year ’89 and “la R”, as the urban guerrilla group in which the comrades participated was known, was about to knock down with an explosive device an electrical transformer located between two public lighting poles on San Pablo Avenue and Radal. They sought to leave the sector without electricity and thus contribute with action to the national strike that was taking place that day.
The sabotage is known to the CNI, because the group had been formed by an undercover agent of that agency, so they perpetrate an ambush that ends with bursts of gunfire towards the comrades.
The streets of the Simón Bolívar town in the commune of Quinta Normal have memories, the years go by and the history of that group of young people who fought against the Pinochet dictatorship continues to spread to every possible corner.
35 years after the death of Erick Rodríguez and Iván Palacios, we remember them and bring them to this present of struggle.
