Student Riots Explode in Colombia

On July 25 and 26, students from the Universidad Nacional de Bogota clashed with riot police during two different demonstrations.

During one of the clashes on the 25th, a group of students threw a series of Molotov cocktails at a police vehicle. Its occupants responded by firing several shots without hitting the protesters. The next day, more clashes left at least 4 people wounded.

These demonstrations are taking place as part of a movement that has been going on for several months.

Following the latest clashes, university officials offered to open negotiations to end the protests and discuss the prospect of widespread social and health assistance and more flexible deadlines for the payment of tuition fees.
