From Progressivism to Collaborationism

The Petro Government, barely halfway through its administration, surrendered itself into the arms of the old oligarchic regime, betraying the Mandate of Change that it said it assumed when the forces of the Social Outbreak of 2021 backed it to reach the presidency.

It is true that US imperialism and the rancorous oligarchy oppose democratic reforms, but it is no less true that Petro sought allies among the most corrupt politicians in the country, those who were blocking the chances of the progressive government achieving the changes he promised the popular forces that supported him to win the 2022 elections. The result sought by the oligarchy is tragic, it is to sow in the opinion this message: progressivism does not yield results, therefore, the forces of the oligarchy must rule again in 2026.

The presentation of this political operation is called the National Agreement for Alternation in Government, which means that oligarchic forces allow Petro to finish his term, but progressives support them to returning to government in 2026. The recent election of the Attorney General is a product of this alliance, which hands this body of control to former President Santos, who is experienced in corrupt maneuvers while serving as Secretary of Congress.

The big brutal steps will be felt when this oligarchicprogressive alliance announces that it is preparing an endpoint or blurandnew law, which guarantees impunity to the perpetrators of genocide, which would bury the rights of millions of victims underground. Another objective of this alliance is to continue with the pacification plans that comply with the strategy outlined by the empire; for this reason, they seek to wreck the proposal for peace with transformations, which this government signed with the ELN at the Dialogue Table, and for this reason the Petro government is violating the agreements signed, in order to provoke the freezing of this process that seeks a political solution to the conflict.

Those who voted for Petro expected his government to make a break with the old oligarchic regime, but reality is proving the opposite, because it is adding to the order of injustice and subordination to the U.S. that prevails in Colombia; Petro, instead of laying the groundwork to establish a democratic and sovereign regime, has given himself the task of cleaning up the old regime.
