Comuneras, comuneros, inhabitants of El Rebollero, El Paraje Los Arquitos and Río Minas, of San Pablo Cuatro Venados, Oaxaca, we denounce: that the attacks against our community have not ceased. On July 4th, at approximately 12:30 p.m., fifty people entered our community with weapons exclusively used by the army. They entered through various parts of El Rebollero and from there they attacked the shepherds who were tending their animals, among them were two children who were hit by bullets. The children were rescued by two farmers, fortunately only two goats were injured.
The silence of the competent authorities, through whom we have made the corresponding denouncements, makes it clear that they are accomplices along with the authorities of Cuilapam de Guerrero, since in this same community it is known that they have asked for cooperation from their neighbors to pay the paramilitaries. It is well known that in the community of Cuilapam they have justified these aggressions because of the water that crosses through our community, which they supposedly own. But this is a lie, because the advance of the mining prospecting has begun to contaminate the water and no one has spoken out. We warn the neighbors of the neighboring communities that, if the mine continues, the only thing they will get is contaminated water, while their authorities and politicians benefit from mining and the sale of lots.
Therefore, we hold the governor of Oaxaca, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, and the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, responsible, as their complicit silence is only leading to a massacre by these paramilitaries.
We call for national and international solidarity to be vigilant about these aggressions of dispossession by paramilitaries. We make it clear that we do not surrender, we do not sell out and that our struggle is for life. Because mining and the sale of our territory represents death.
For the integral reconstitution of our peoples, never again a Mexico without us.
