The Press Center of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) has published a statement for three fallen guerrillas. Xemgîn Oremar, Xwînrêj Spêrtî and Rêber Dizê were reportedly killed on 14 November 2019 in a Turkish attack in the Medya Defense Areas.
The HPG paid tribute to the martyrs with respect and gratitude on the fifth anniversary of their deaths, and added: “Our companions Xemgîn, Xwînrêj and Rêber accepted their responsibility and duty without hesitation at a time of massive annihilation attacks throughout Kurdistan and joined our people’s struggle for existence and freedom.”
New revolutionary generation in Kurdistan
All three guerrillas grew up in an environment influenced by the PKK movement and were shaped by the struggle for freedom, enlightenment and identity in Kurdistan, said the HPG, adding: “They learned about the hostile reality as children. When their time came, they joined the freedom struggle and thereby fulfilled their responsibility towards our people. They knew that only a free life makes sense and that the freedom philosophy of Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] makes such a life possible. With this conviction, they devoted themselves completely to the struggle. They saw it as a revolutionary obligation to be everywhere where the free life of our people is under attack. Our comrades Xemgîn, Xwînrêj and Rêber lived and fought for the values they believed in until their last breath. In this way, they are exemplary for the new revolutionary generation that has emerged in Kurdistan.”
