On this day in 1967, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine paved its way as a revolutionary, combative, vanguard party rising from the depths of our people’s catastrophe and setback, to draw the outlines of a national liberation project based on resistance and struggle to liberate the land and the people.
The Front was launched with its radical ideology and its principles of struggle that were planted by its founding leaders: Dr. George Habash, Wadih Haddad, Abu Ali Mustafa, Ghassan Kanafani, Abu Maher Al-Yamani, Guevara of Gaza, Abu Amal, Abu Mansour, and a group of symbols, leaders, and revolutionary fighters who did not retreat in the face of the most difficult challenges.
On this occasion, we remember with reverence and pride their sacrifices and the sacrifices of the caravans of martyrs who paved the way for freedom with their blood, foremost among them the comrades who were recently martyred in the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, foremost among them Comrade Nidal Abdel Aal, member of the Political Bureau, Ismail Salem, Awad Al-Sultan, Imad Awda, Umm Al-Amir Al-Aila, Khaled Al-Muhtaseb, and a long list of martyred comrades, both male and female.
We also renew our pledge of loyalty and liberation to our valiant male and female prisoners, foremost among them Comrade Secretary-General and Leader Ahmed Saadat and his comrades and all the prisoners who embody the epic of steadfastness in the occupation’s dungeons.
We salute with pride and honor the heroes of the resistance in Gaza, especially our fighters in the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, who continue to fight a long-term battle of attrition against the occupation soldiers.
We salute the masses of our people in the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem and the diaspora, who continue to stand firm despite the siege and destruction.
We also appreciate the sacrifices of the various support fronts in Lebanon, Yemen and Iraq, and their pivotal role in supporting our people’s resistance.
We salute the global mass movements that stood with our people in capitals and cities, demanding an end to the aggression and an end to the occupation.
Our people, our Arab nation’s masses… O free people of the world
The Zionist occupation is waging a comprehensive war aimed at uprooting our people from their land and erasing their identity through a war of extermination, ethnic cleansing, settlement, siege and destruction, in light of a series of developments and challenges sweeping the world, the region and the region, and the American and Western insistence on supporting and financing the war of extermination, and on reviving old colonial projects.
We, in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, on the occasion of the launch, and in light of these important developments, emphasize the following:
1. Adherence to resistance as a strategic option and a path to liberation is the only way to confront the war of extermination waged by the occupation against our land and our people, especially in the Gaza Strip, which is being subjected to an unprecedented escalation in ethnic cleansing, killing and destruction, and the occupied West Bank, which is facing an escalation in aggression, settlement projects, annexation and Judaization.
2. Stopping the aggression, breaking the siege, rebuilding what the occupation has destroyed, and returning the displaced are urgent national priorities that must be accompanied by preserving resistance in all its forms, and continuing to work to pursue and hold the occupation leaders accountable for their crimes against our people.
3. Efforts to put the Palestinian house in order will only be achieved through a comprehensive national dialogue that places the supreme interest of our people above all considerations, ensures the participation of all spectrums, far from exclusivity or exclusion, and leads to an agreed-upon national strategy.
4. Coordinating national efforts and positions to thwart the suspicious plans of the Gaza Strip administration, while emphasizing that the future of the Gaza Strip is an internal Palestinian affair, and that the form of government is determined by our people through national consensus and away from any external interference.
5. The great sacrifices made by the resistance during the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, especially in the first ranks of the leadership and its best resistance fighters, will not deter the resistance factions from the line of resistance, but will increase their belief in the necessity of continuing the resistance and confronting the occupation, as the battle is long and painful, and the path to liberation is not paved with roses, and the occupation will not fall with a knockout blow, but rather by accumulating the resistance’s blows.
6. Confronting the liquidation plans and projects that the occupation seeks to resolve or impose through crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing, annexation and displacement, and creating isolated enclaves from each other. This requires escalating all forms of resistance, and intensive field and political efforts to confront these plans. Any international movements must be consistent with international resolutions that are fair to our people, with the changes in international public opinion towards the Palestinian cause, and implementing the decisions of the International Criminal Court.
7. We warn against the new colonial plans led by the US administration, which aim to rearrange the situation in the region on the basis of dividing the divided and drowning it in endless conflicts, and which aim to gradually end the Palestinian issue, establish the occupation as a fait accompli, and strengthen its hegemony over the peoples and countries of the region. Confronting these plans requires a unified awareness and a joint effort to thwart these policies.
8. We affirm our support for the Syrian people in their right to self-determination, and our rejection of any interference that affects their sovereignty and territorial integrity. We condemn the repeated Zionist aggression against Syria, which comes within a plan to fragment the countries of the region and weaken the resistance forces. Protecting Syria and its unity is the responsibility of all free people of the world.
Oh, our people…
These major challenges will not deter us from adhering to our rights, nor will they push us to retreat from the line of resistance. Rather, they will increase our belief in the necessity of escalating the approach of armed struggle to confront the occupation and its plans.
We pledge to the masses of our people, the martyrs, and the free people of the world to continue on the path paved by the blood of the martyrs, the steadfastness of the prisoners, and the struggle of successive generations.
We affirm that liberation is coming inevitably, and that Palestine, from its river to its sea, will be liberated by the hands of our people’s fighters and revolutionaries.
Glory to the martyrs… freedom to the prisoners… victory to our people and their resistance
