Repression Against Guerrillas Continues in India

Three Maoists, including Gajarla Ravi, member of the Central Committee, and Aruna, a high-ranking leader, were killed Wednesday in the forests of Maredumilli, in the district of Alluri Sitharama Raju, in Andhra Pradesh by the “Greyhounds” special anti-guerrilla force.

Gajarla Ravi, aka Uday, was the former secretary of the Special Committee of the Border Zone of Andhra Odisha. He and three of his four brothers were members of the PCI (Maoist), just like their father, Gajarla Malliah. Delighted, his brother Saraiah, his wife Prameela, his sister-in-law Padma and his brother-in-law Ramesh were all killed during various clashes over the years.

Ravi was one of the representatives of the PCI (Maoist) engaged in peace negotiations with the Congress Government in 2004-2005. He was known as the main military strategist of the party and appeared on the list of people most sought after by the National Agency of Investigation. Venkata Ravi Lakshmi Chaitanya, aka Aruna, also a member of the ABB special zone committee, was the wife of the late Maoist Chief Chalapathi, killed in a confrontation in January. His mother, Mavi, and his brother, Azad, were also killed in clashes.
