“Our Revolutionary Duty to Defend Our Palestinian Comrades”: Documents & Communiqués from the International Underground 1975-1989

Palestine is, has always been, & will remain—until their victory which may be ours so long as we fight & sacrifice side by side with the great historical flood of fedayeen & martyrs towards a world that could be called worthy of life—the beating heart of international anti-imperialist revolutionary struggle. From the exiled Palestinian guerrilla training camps in Lebanon & Jordan where generations of future fighters emerged to build a never cohered but always cohering international anti-imperialist front (in the Arab world, the wider Global South, & the imperial cores) with thousands of underground guerrilla attacks against US-Zionist imperialism proliferating in the years of the global revolution, to their ensuing defeats of imprisonment & martyrdom which are never as final as empire’s wish as long as there is steadfastness to struggle, so revolutionary prisoners in all the world’s dungeons keep hauling up the morning over the Palestinian horizon in hunger strikes, death fasts, any resistance to captivity, to even the ghostly inheritances of revolutionary kinship through martyrdom (so George Jackson becomes the poet of the Palestinian Revolution—O Enemy of the Sun). Wherever the oppressed & exploited pick up whatever weapons they have at hand & surge towards freedom, Palestine seethes with them. Against the shipwrecked amnesia of a history that massacres the past & imprisons the future so as to subjugate you to the thought that nothing’s possible, there’s nothing I can do, we must remember & remember that nothing is ever lost, remember that so long as anyone cries out whether beneath a hail of bullets or a handcuff’s grip or the world-ending genocidal annihilation of hope, every ghost & every martyr cries out with them. All that it takes is to heed the call, “If I have fallen, let a thousand hands reach out next to pick up the gun”—& to do it, like those in these pages & innumerable unnamed others have done ceaselessly crawling out of the rubble to wage the coming revolution.

The texts gathered here––transcribed from various counter-info organs of the illegal front––are offered as a testament to the enduring continuity of struggle and to the receding ruptures from which we must always re-orient & re-build.
