SEC Plating in Sydney, Australia Targeted for its Support of ‘Israeli’ Genocide

In the early hours of Tuesday morning three people approached the SEC factory on a suburban street, of southwest Sydney, Australia, scaling a secure fence with their faces covered.

They graffitiied the premises and damaged equipment at SEC plating, targeted due to its links to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Graffiti included “Free Gaza” on the front of the business and damage was done to fences as well as industrial machinery inside.

The business has been the target of several protests in recent months including one that left a a former member of the Greens seriously injured.

The group Weapons out of the West has targeted the business since January, for the role it plays a in the supply chain for weapons used by ‘Israel’ in its war in Gaza, particularly F-35.

The F-35A program is funded by the US and close allies including NATO and Australia

More than a dozen countries are implicated in the supply chain for the US-designed supersonic stealth strike fighters. Australia is one of those countries.

SEC Plating was founded in 1947 and provides industrial electroplating and surface coating services including for aerospace and defence sectors, according to the company’s website.

“We wish to expand our relationships through other sub-contracting manufacturers to the defence primes and believe that we can be a significant part of a quality, cost-effective supply chain for this purpose,” a company presentation from 2015 reads.

Below we publish the whole communique:

Last night, a group of Palestinian liberation activists damaged SEC Plating, in Sydney, potentially rendering the factory out of service due to critical damage to key components of its infrastructure. Activists decorated the facade of the building with messages: LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE! STOP ARMING ISRAEL! FREE GAZA!
The message is enduring until liberation: wherever the supply chain of weapons exists, there will be those willing to sabotage them.
Activists also glued the following poster to the facade:
ATTENTION WORKERS: Parts of this building are damaged.
This may be an unsafe working area,” the sign reads.
“SEC Plating has a contract to manufacture parts of F-35 war planes for Israel. Israel is using these planes to commit a genocide in Gaza. Over 60,000 people have been killed, including 20,000 children. This is increasing every day.
“SEC Plating’s contract helps Israel kill Palestinians. You, as workers, are not the target of this action, the contract is. Workers in Palestine have called on workers everywhere to interfere with supply chains that send weapons to Israel.

You can answer their call and help push for SEC Plating’s contract to be cancelled”
