At Şakran Women’s Prison in Izmir, imprisoned revolutionaries Tuğçenur Özbay and Güzin Tolga began a hunger strike on February 1st after prison authorities attempted to force them to wear badges labeled “Left-Wing Terrorist.” Faced with the prisoners’ refusal, the prison administration implemented a series of repressive measures: banning family visits and consultations with their lawyers, prohibiting phone calls, and suspending the receipt of packages, imposing near-total isolation. Their hunger strike aims to secure the removal of these badges and the lifting of all restrictions imposed under this pretext.
