Dozens of people were arrested following a series of clashes in the center of Santiago, which are part of a new commemoration of the Day of the Young Combatant. The clashes started in Alameda, where groups of young people put up barricades (photo) and threw Molotov cocktails at the Carabiniers [Chilean national law enforcement police].
Two buses were also burnt down and due to these clashes, there have been several traffic cuts and deviations to other arteries from the Chilean capital. The clashes continued until the first hours of Thursday morning. Clashes also took place elsewhere in Chile, in particular in Auricania (Mapuche Country) where a branch of the company Teslur in Temuco was attacked by Molotov cocktail.
