The Qatai-based Hamas faction on Saturday called on Iran to refrain from targeting neighboring countries. This position highlights the precarious position Hamas is in since their top, principled leadership was martryred. It also reflects a new internal weakness emerging at an incredily important time.
The Iraqi Resistance responded to them today,
Statement by Iraqi Resistance leader Sayyid Hashim al-Hyderi (H) commenting on a recent statement issued by Hamas:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We were surprised by the issuance of a statement from the Palestinian movement Hamas asking the Islamic Republic of Iran not to target neighboring countries.
Here we must declare, for the sake of God and for history, our regret over this position taken by the movement. Although it is possible that the movement has been subjected to significant pressure from Gulf states to announce such a stance, it must be remembered that the Islamic Republic is acting in self-defense following the sudden war launched against it by the United States and Israel.
A large part of this war began and continues to be launched from American military bases located in Gulf countries and Jordan.
Is it reasonable for anyone with intellect, faith, honor, or dignity to ask the Islamic Republic not to respond and not to punish and destroy those aggressive bases, which are unfortunately supported by states that normalize relations with Israel either secretly or openly and act as agents of America?
We remind the movement that if the Islamic Republic had intended to target the Gulf states themselves or Jordan, their kings, presidents, and princes would not today be residing safely in their palaces, nor would their cities and capitals remain calm and populated.
We had hoped that the movement’s official position at this historic moment would resemble the stance of its martyred leaders and the people of Gaza, who stood firm and did not abandon their values and principles despite pressure, war, siege, and destruction.
It should also resemble the position of the Islamic Republic toward the Palestinian cause for the past 47 years, during which it endured wars, sanctions, and Western and Arab media campaigns yet did not retreat even an inch from supporting the resistance in Palestine with money, weapons, and political positions, especially Hamas.
May Allah grant victory to the people of Palestine and to its honorable and devoted fighters and resistance.
