Italian Justice Minister Carlo Nordio has renewed the 41bis solitary confinement regime against anarchist Alfredo Cospito, held in Cagliari prison. The measure was communicated directly to the prisoner by the ministry itself. Fabio Ramelli, vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Brothers of Italy, justified the decision by stating that it corresponded to “the profile of political and social danger that anarchism represents,” describing Cospito as a point of reference for anarchist insurrectionary movements. This measure is widely denounced as state retribution and a form of torture.
