Dr. Omar Emil Awad, known as the “doctor of the poor” and leader of the Jordanian Communist Party, and communist activist Bahaa Alayan have been detained in Amman for over two months after participating in rallies in support of the Palestinians.
Their organization denounces the arbitrary arrests as lacking transparent legal procedures or clear justifications, amidst a growing crackdown on leftist, anti-imperialist movements opposed to the genocide in Gaza.
