Last night we had an appointment to set fire to two Deutsche Bahn vehicles with incendiary devices. The company not only stands for overpriced train connections and dilapidated infrastructure, but is also deeply involved in armaments, exploitation and neo-colonialism. Specifically, we attacked DB to make the struggles for Tren Maya in Mexico visible.
We lit rebellious fires for the Indigenous people from Chiapas, Comunidad Indígena Otomí, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana We say: Compañer@s! You are not alone, your resistance is with us!
As part of the huge Tren Maya infrastructure project, two railway lines have been built through the Mexican jungle with the main aim of bringing mass tourism to the indigenous provinces. Deutsche Bahn, which otherwise endeavors to present a sustainable and green image, is part of the project and is making money from the destruction of the Mexican jungle – in cooperation with armaments companies, the Mexican military and the USA.
In addition to mass tourism, Tren Maya is also used for counter-insurgency and migration control. The Mexican military is tasked with managing and defending the sections of railway line. Military bases are set up along the railway line. The military presence is aimed at indigenous resistance and the state’s fight against refugees from Central and South America and the Caribbean. This is because the region is one of the largest migration corridors in the world. It is therefore not surprising that the project was preceded by favorable talks between Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and the then US President Donald Trump. Tren Maya therefore also serves the geopolitical interests of the USA and its migration policy.
Tren Maya is being sold as a progressive infrastructure project and pushed through by force against all resistance from the people directly affected. Intact ecosystems and self-organized, mostly indigenous communities are to be replaced by tourism, hotel complexes, factories, factory farms and monocultures. The expropriation and displacement that is taking place amounts to the commercialization of living things and the permanent militarization of areas. We do not believe in your green progress or your profit-orientated world. Tren Maya and by extension the prevailing conditions must be destroyed in the long term. We remember the Zapatista uprising of the EZLN in January 1994.
We ourselves are starting the new year militantly and are looking forward to many hot nights!

We regret that uninvolved vehicles were also burnt out by both fires. We had calculated a lot, but underestimated the wind that night.
