DKP/BÖG Immortals’ Week Statement

The history of the struggle for revolution and socialism is a history that has been carried to the present day with the prices paid in the class struggle. Struggling brings with it the risk of paying the price.

Considering the current harshness of the class struggle in the geography of Turkey, paying the price and making them pay the price points to a discriminatory practice. Our party, DKP/BÖG, has been the address of insistence on such revolutionism since its establishment.

Considering the November Breakthrough and the process that followed, we have been a persistent advocate of a revolutionary approach that transcends the boundaries of order within the Turkish revolutionary movement. We rejected an understanding of revolutionism that relied on its own right and insisted on a revolutionism that relied on its own strength, the power of freedom. While we paid a great price for this cause, we also tried to hold the AKP-MHP government accountable and make it pay a price.

Within our party, DKP/BÖG, 9/16 May Immortals Week includes commemorating the revolutionary Communards who became immortal for the ideals of revolution and socialism with such a historical awareness.

Commemorating all the comrades who have become immortal, especially our Founding Leader, Commander-in-Chief and teacher Ulaş Bayraktaroğlu, is based on embracing them in the strongest way. While Ulaş Bayraktaroğlu was immortalized on May 9, 2017, when he physically passed away, he left us a great legacy of struggle. It will be we, his comrades, who are his students, who will complete the historical meaning of this legacy of struggle.

Insisting on revolutionism at the present moment also means insisting on a line of struggle and action that transcends the boundaries of order. Our immortals are the best examples of how this path should be walked and what kind of revolution should be made.

As our party, we are responsible for working and fighting with all our strength on this day, as we did yesterday, in order to be the executor of a revolutionism worthy of them.

Considering the historical processes we have left behind, insisting on the line of struggle of our party means embracing our immortals in the most correct way.

Our party, which is the vanguard of the working class, laborers, women and youth of Turkey, persistently follows their footsteps in the practice of revolutionary action in struggle, without forgetting the memory of the immortals for a moment in the practice of revolutionary war.

The day is a day to walk on the revolutionary route drawn by our party and to fight on this basis so that we are worthy of our immortals with our persistence.

At the historical moment we are in, we are in a period in which the AKP-MHP government is carrying out the wheel of oppression and exploitation against the working class, laborers, women and youth in the strongest way. While the establishment deepens the wheel of exploitation on the oppressed with its counter-revolutionary attacks, it also spreads pessimism and disorganization in the ranks of the oppressed. In this period, insisting on organized struggle and communar revolutionism will be the best attitude to be taken in the process.

In such a historical period, our Party once again underlines its insistence on carrying revolutionism forward by following in the footsteps of the immortal Communards. We call on workers, toilers, women and youth to join the struggle led by our party.
