ELN Guerrilla Announces Three-Day Armed Strike in Colombia

The insurgent group the the National Liberation Army (ELN) in Colombia circulated a video on social networks yesterday, February 23rd, announcing a three day armed strike. Public transport between Piendamó and Silvia, have been suspended.
Members of the ELN armed group have been seen over an area between the municipalities of Piendamó and Silvia. They are towns in the north of Cauca, in the vicinity of the Pan-American Highway that connects the southwest with the interior of the country.

23 liberatory actions have since been registered so far by the guerrillas after the announcement of an armed strike throughout the national territory. The department of Norte de Santander and the department of Cauca have been the sites of the guerrilla actions in case of unnecessary population mobilizations.

Currently, public transport to this area of the department of Cauca is suspended.
Several vehicles have already been incinerated by the ELN in the midst of this armed strike, such as in the municipality of Caldono, where a truck was incinerated; and in the municipality of Bolívar, where another was cremated. In municipalities such as El Patía (Cauca) and Guachucal (Nariño), vehicle burns such as motorcycles and vans have also been reported.
