Three day hunger strike in solidarity with the mass mobilization of Palestinian prisoners in israeli prisons
In these past months, the colonial-fascist Israeli state is completing the institutional framework of a genocide that is ongoing for ¾ of a century.
-The Israeli parliament has passed a law imposing the death penalty on anyone found guilty of killing an Israeli with a “terrorist” motive.
-Recently, the Israeli parliament also passed a law that revokes the citizenship, displaces and destroys the permanent residence of anyone accused of involvement in “terrorist” acts. Citizenship was already revoked from anyone accused of “violating loyalty” to the Israeli state.
At least 30 people have been targeted by this law, including a Palestinian lawyer who has been deported without trial.
-A more recent law extends the revocation of citizenship and the destruction of the permanent residence of family members of anyone charged under the “anti-terrorism” law. Displacement and denial of citizenship as a means of collective punishment and ethnic cleansing are formalised. The law has come into force. However, this policy was practiced even before the formulation of this law, either with reference to actions of resistance, or more broadly, under urban planning pretexts.
At the same time, the Swafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem (with 140,000 residents displaced since 1965 from another refugee camp in the Old City) is under permanent blockade. A few weeks ago, the Israeli army shot a child in the camp, blocked the access to medical assistance until the child died, and then abducted his body for a week.
On the 23rd of February, during a covert operation by the occupation forces in Nablus (West Bank) targeting two Palestinian fighters, 11 people were murdered, including a 16-year-old and two elderly people. Emergency repressive measures are being imposed in the Israeli prisons.
At the same time as a new intifada is being triggered, Palestinian prisoners are resisting. 2022 was the bloodiest year for Palestinians since the second intifada (early 2000). This year, 61 Palestinians have been murdered by February 23rd.
Today 22nd of March, captive Palestinians are starting a mass hunger strike with one demand: Freedom. Calling for solidarity with the resisting Palestinian people, in and out of prison, I join the hunger strike with a three-day hunger strike.
