The isolation on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues. What do you think about the isolation policy implemented and the situations in Imrali?
First of all, I offer my greetings and respects to Leader Apo and all his friends who were held captive in the dungeons of the enemy; I salute their resistance.
The isolation is a system in the Turkish state’s war against our struggle, and the isolation continues. There is no change in the Imrali Isolation System. It is also carried out in the dungeons of all Turkey and Kurdistan, and the isolation system prevails in the genocidal war against the Kurdish people today. Undoubtedly, the enemy is afraid of Leader Apo’s thought system and determined stance. For this, it considers it important to prevent Leader Apo’s voice from reaching the movement, the cadres and the public. Because it wants to either liquidate or take over these sections I have mentioned. Therefore, it does not make any relaxation in the isolation system.
THE LOAD ON LEADER APO MUST BE LIGHTED
Undoubtedly, the enemy considers it so important that it tramples Turkey’s national laws, international laws and moral standards. The reason it chews them all is because of the fear it experiences. The resistance and stance against this is undoubtedly very meaningful. But the important thing for our friends, patriots and our people who are fighting outside, is what we do. In this context, our situation is a situation of self-criticism. So we are in the process of self-criticism. We should know that the struggle carried out in general today increases the responsibility on us much more and reveals the tasks of the period. We must increase the struggle with a much more effective action, tactics and method. Not only to lift the isolation, We must strengthen the struggle for the freedom of Leader Apo and all his captive comrades. The period we are in is now this period. In this context, what is currently being carried out is not enough; it is not nutritious. When considered both in terms of movement, guerrilla and cadre, and patriotic individuals and institutions, it is seen that the current approach is not sufficient. Therefore, it should be strengthened much more, and within this framework at least, the burden on Leader Apo should be lightened. Because the person who is under the most burden right now is Leader Apo. For 25 years, there has been a strong will against psychological war attacks and psychological torture. We should all look at it and review our style. For example, you are looking at: when a friend in the studies stays in a place for a few years, it gets tight immediately. However, if you notice, there is a stance in Imrali and other dungeons today. In general, we need to draw conclusions, treat it as a message. On this basis, we must increase the tactical depth and the way-method struggle in every field. Today is such a day. In this way, we can respond to the stance of Leader Apo and his comrades.
On the centennial anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, both a mass march and a conference took place in Lausanne. The final declaration of the conference was also announced. What would you like to point out about this?
Lausanne’s centennial conference, in fact, was a strong one. Both the march of the people of Kurdistan was good, and the conference and the final declaration, which was published again, were good as far as we watched. But I think it could have been even better. So it could have been organized much better in every way. The Lausanne Treaty is a genocide treaty. Although they call it the ‘peace agreement’ on behalf of those who made this agreement, for the Kurdish people, this is a genocide and war agreement. As a result of this agreement, great tragedies have been experienced in Kurdistan for a hundred years and there is a constant state of war. Of course, people think, ‘Why did these states come together and they did a great injustice to the Kurdish people with such an unfair agreement?’
DENIM AND GENOCIDE DEVELOPED AT THE INITIATIVE OF EUROPEAN STATES
Almost everyone has been talking about the injustices of this agreement for the past few days. However, all this cannot be explained by economic and political interests alone. It is true; Part of it is the situation our people are in. So our people are not prepared; has not established its union; representatives are not strong. It is a people without lawyers. Being the most ancient people of the region; that is, as a people with riches in terms of language, culture and history, they did not come to the region later, although they were a native of the region, this people was denied. Undoubtedly, this denial also led to genocide. So why did they do that! In particular, it has developed at the initiative of the European states.
Obviously, some historical accounts also play a role here. Selahattin Eyyubi’s revenge is taken from the Kurds. Not only did the Christian world forget Selahattin Eyyubi, but also in the last century before Lausanne; In other words, during the Bedirxan Beg period and then during the Hamidiye Regiments, attacks and problems developed by some Kurdish tribes against Christians with the trick and encouragement of the Ottomans. When all these are put together, it is seen that these practices throughout history played a role in this unjust cruelty and unscrupulousness of the Lausanne Treaty. In other words, in the process from Selahattin Eyyubi to before Lausanne, there was also the questioning of the Kurds. Therefore, this cannot be explained only by economic and political interests. It can be said that history also plays a role in this.
THE CONFERENCE IN LAUSANNE WAS VERY MEANINGFUL
It is very meaningful to hold a conference against this, at least to show that the Kurdish people did not accept or reject this agreement, and that they are still standing even after a hundred years. Again, even if some did not participate, the step taken with this Lausanne Conference can be the basis of national unity. Because the majority of Kurdish parties, institutions and circles, and peoples such as Armenians and Assyrians living in Kurdistan were present at the conference. This is something very valuable. I hope this step will continue.
Of course, holding this conference was a good thing, but the important thing is practice. So it is to continue. So what should be next? It should be a national conference. This conference should be its foundation. The current conditions are suitable for a national conference to take place. In short, the convening of such a valuable conference was good for us, the Kurds and the peoples living in Kurdistan, to welcome the centennial of the genocidal Lausanne Treaty. It was an answer. From now on, we must give this answer much more forcefully in practice. This happens with national unity, with the promotion of the freedom struggle and the solution struggle. We now have a perspective on how the peoples of the region can live together and we have solution projects. There must be a new Lausanne. This Lausanne is the Lausanne of nation-states. Now a social Lausanne must be built on a democratic confederal basis. This requires struggle.
In conclusion: I greet KNK, who pioneered this valuable work, and everyone involved. Congratulations to all. I hope that this conference will be a basis for the promotion of the struggle for a good future, national unity and freedom.
The invading Turkish state launched a large-scale attack against your movement and the people of Kurdistan on July 24, 2015. It has been 8 years since this attack. TR gave the balance sheet of this war as 38 thousand 191. So what exactly is the balance sheet of this war?
Your previous question was about Lausanne. A hundred years have passed since Lausanne. Leader Apo’s 50th anniversary has been completed. In other words, our movement has been fighting against this colonial-genocidal system for 50 years. It has been carrying out an armed struggle for the last 39 years. But the war that has been waged for the last 8 years has some features. After the Rojava Revolution, the unification of the Cizîr and Kobanê regions, the HDP getting 13 percent of the vote in the elections, etc. The growth of the cause of freedom in the North frightened Turkish state officials. They thought that these developments would bring with them the disintegration of Turkey. For this, all the forces in the state, whether right or left, NATO or Eurasian, came together and created a new concept. They called it the ‘Collapse Plan’ at first. However, in 2016, they completed their internal organization and declared war on the basis of the policy of genocide. When they declared this war, they said, “This is Turkey’s war of independence.” “This is a war of survival; It is very strategic for us,” they said. In other words, the state went to war with all its might against us. So this was not like previous wars. They even changed their systems in order to be able to make faster decisions and coordinate from a single source.
Since then, there have been attacks against us based on the technology of the age. In the first 3 years, these attacks developed extensively and harshly in the North. Undoubtedly, the resistance of the cities and states developed in the face of this. In the cities, under the leadership of Çiyager, Xebatkar and Zeryans; Great historical resistances developed in the mountains under the leadership of Azad Sîserler, Delal Amedler and Baran Dersim.
THEIR GOAL IS TO COMPLETELY LIQUIDATE THE GUERILLA
In 2018, they expanded the scope of this concept. They both attacked Afrin and openly targeted Rojava, and by attacking Xakurkê, they expanded the wave of attacks against Medya Defense Areas, namely Başûr. This state of war in both Bakurê Kurdistan, Rojava Kurdistan and Bashure Kurdistan continued until 2020. Since 2020, they focused mostly on Bakure Kurdistan and Basure Kurdistan, that is, Medya Defense Areas. It is true; meanwhile, they continued their assassination and various attacks in many regions of Rojava, Shengal and Bashur. But for the last four years, the war has been concentrated in the Medya Defense Areas and Bakure Kurdistan.
So what were their purposes? Their aim was to completely liquidate the guerrilla. Because they obtained the technology of the age with the support of NATO. In particular, they somehow obtained armed-unmanned reconnaissance planes. They thought that with this technique, they would liquidate the guerrilla, completely occupy Rojava and eliminate it, and occupy the borders of the National Pact. Erdogan had already made and showed a map openly at the United Nations meeting. In short, their aim was to completely liquidate the Freedom Movement, to eliminate the gains of the Kurdish people and to completely liberate Turkey from the Kurdish question. They wanted to complete this this year, that is, in 2023.
Here they were declaring their victory in the centennial of Lausanne (which is today) and the centennial of the founding of the republic and aiming to enter the second century of the Turkish Republic without Kurds. In other words, they wanted to create a new century (the second century of the republic) on the basis of the destruction of the Kurdish Freedom Struggle and will. Their aim was to completely liquidate the freedom movement this year and to achieve its goals in this way.
THEY WANT TO OCCUPY ZAP FOR THREE YEARS
Now a hundred years have passed. The Turkish state received support from outside in this process. Again, the surrounding states, political, commercial, etc. brought it to a point with calculations. Here, on the one hand, it played between Russia and America. It somehow silenced Iraq. Again, unfortunately, it made the KDP a partner in this plan. It is a different matter with which calculations these are made, but the reality has developed like this. In other words, they included some Kurds and based on all this they said ‘we will definitely win’. But now we are looking at the result; they failed. Because they’re stuck in Zap. Here they want to occupy Zap for 3 years; they still could not occupy and they are still trying to occupy Zap.
We resisted as a movement against their concept, our people resisted, Kurdish politics resisted, we have already expressed Leader Apo’s stance. In addition to these resistances, the guerrilla also made tactical expansions. First; improved specialization and branching, created a renewal in warfare. They again improved the use of technique. The team created the method of warfare. They developed team warfare, which can fight powerfully and act in stealth. Third; they developed the underground system in the war. It can be stated that they created underground warfare as a new method.
These have brought with them the attacks of the Turkish state in every sense and the failure of their orientation on the basis of intelligence and technology of the age. In the face of this tactical expansion and deepening, their attacks did not succeed and remained inconclusive. For this reason, they could not reach their goals even though the time within their plan had expired. Because the stance of Leader Apo and the resistance of our people and Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla foiled their plans. This can be easily stated.
ACTUAL BALANCE SHEET
You stated that the enemy gave the numbers of our martyred comrades by making constant statements. It’s true. Most recently, I think about a week ago, they also gave a balance sheet on the occasion of the last 8 years. But their balance sheet is built on lies. The Turkish state denies the whole ancient Kurdistan, saying ‘there is no such place’; for this reason, all their systems in Kurdistan are based on lies. In our age, it also makes strong use of the already developed psychological warfare. They constantly say, ‘we shoot, we catch, we are successful’. This is how they motivate themselves. In reality it is not like that. I will not prolong this; I will try to answer briefly:
This last 8 years attack concept started on July 24, 2015. In other words, they started their attack on the anniversary of Lausanne. This too is a message. In other words, they wanted to say “just as we ignored you in Lausanne and signed this, now we will destroy you in the war”. This is the message Lausanne gave with the attacks it launched on July 24, its anniversary. That is, ‘we are determined, we will destroy you; They want to say, ‘We will root you out’. On this basis, they declared war against us 8 years ago today, and they have been waging this war for 8 years.
This extensive war, which was waged, developed mostly in the three parts of Kurdistan. It also developed partly on the Rojhilat side; In other words, the Turkish state attacks Rojhilat forces from time to time, but mostly there was an intense war in three parts.
If we outline how the developing situation is as a balance sheet;
- As HPG, 4 thousand 906 of our friends were martyred in these 8 years. Northern Self-Defense Forces; that is, the number of our martyrs given as YPS is 616 friends. I commemorate all our heroic martyrs with respect. We are in their footsteps and will not leave their blood on the ground. We will make their dreams come true.
- According to this, our total martyrs as HPG and YPS are 5 thousand 522 friends. These are the real numbers. We are also open to research on this issue and it is not possible to hide the martyrdom of any of our friends.
- Of course, the enemy includes Rojava when explaining the figures. These martyrs I gave are the friends who were martyred on the Northern and Southern lines. Of course, YPS is like a part of HPG.
- We also asked from Rojava; those friends also sent us clear figures according to their own balance sheets. Of course, on the one hand, they are fighting against ISIS; On the other hand, they are resisting the attacks of the Turkish state, a second ISIS. The total number of martyrs of the SDF in the developing war against the Turkish state is 1,496 friends. Again, in the attacks of the Turkish state, 1,057 of our civilians have been martyred so far. Rojava’s balance sheet is like this. That is, if we add up the military losses of all three parts, the number of all our martyrs is 7,018 friends. In other words, 7,018 martyrs were experienced from the military forces. In Rojava, 1,057 of our civilian people were martyred. I do not have the exact number of our civilian martyrs in Bashur right now, but almost a thousand of our people were martyred in Bakur in these 8 years. Likewise, we have nearly 200 civilian martyrs in Başûr.
TURKISH STATE NUMBERS
In other words, this is all the martyrs we gave in 8 years. However, if you notice, the Turkish state has increased this figure 5 and a half times. They always do this. For example, they said that if we have a martyr in practice, you just look at 5. That’s how they mostly do it. Many times they pretend to exist even though nothing is happening. Turkey is already very experienced in showing something that does not exist. Perhaps no one is as skilled as the Republic of Türkiye in this regard. In other words, they are very adept at denying the facts.
So how much is their loss in return? According to our records, a total of 18,606 soldiers, policemen, officers and mercenaries from the Turkish state were killed in the Bakure Kurdistan and Medya Defense Areas in the past 8 years. In their attacks on Rojava, soldiers, officers, police, gangs, etc. Together, 4 thousand 910 people were killed. In other words, in the last 8 years, 23 thousand 570 deaths have been experienced in the attacks carried out by the Turkish state against the Kurdish people in all three parts of Kurdistan. They’re not telling the truth. I do not know exactly how many dead they confessed, but they reveal about 2 thousand at most. Because they always deny. They base their methods on denial. But these are the real balance sheets. In particular, there is no shortage of our losses.
THEY ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO FORCE THE GUERILLA IN ZAP
The latest invading Turkish army launched a new invasion attack on the Western Zap Region. What can you specify for this? What is the purpose of this invasion?
As you stated, the place where the enemy wants to operate now is the areas where it had to withdraw last year. So it could not settle there and withdrew in the fall. Now some of his soldiers are in Girê Cûdî; they took it down to an empty place called Martyr Zagros. But that place is under the control of friends. After leaving their soldiers, friends shoot the moment they move. There are already images; helicopter crashed. Many times when they act, they work on friends and strike a blow. In this context, there is war there. It seems that that place became an inconvenience for the enemy. It’s not just there, it’s the whole state. The enemy could not settle there and therefore there has been constant bombardment for a year. Now they’ve made it even more. In fact, there is bombardment in the region from air and land. They want to place the downloaded soldiers there as well. But as stated in our explanation, they haven’t settled down yet or they are settling in and friends are hitting too. From there, it goes to another place, again, friends shoot. So they don’t have a position to force friends at the moment. On the contrary, friends force them. The war continues in this context.
So far, there has been no loss of friends in the Martyr Delîl West Zap Province. In fact, on the day the operation started, there was enemy activity in the Girê Ortê and Tirvaniş lines in Metîna. Sometimes they appear and sometimes they disappear. It seems that they want to take some places there as well. So they are using their own tactics. There was also contact; The enemy gave us 3 losses once and 5 losses once. This is a lie. We just have a friend who is currently disconnected. Apart from this, there is no loss of friends in Metîna and Zap during this war. The resistance continues. The Turkish state can no longer dominate there. We know that there is a plan for them to come. But the enemy will not be successful in this plan. The performance of your friends is on point. The actions of our friends on July 19 and 20 before the invasion attack, and on July 21 afterwards, were celebrated by the leadership of our movement. There really is a level of performance by friends.
This is the situation now; There is no such thing as the enemy taking all sides, and such a situation does not develop easily anymore. Because with the balance created by the friends, they will advance their dominance in the land more strongly during the war. There are also experiences of the last year, they will benefit from these experiences. We believe that friends will win a clearer victory here. With this hope and faith, I greet the friends who resist in these states with respect and love, and wish them great success.
In the last period, private warfare has become widespread in Kurdistan. There is a serious spying activity especially for young people. What would you like to point out about this?
The policy of the Turkish state on Kurdistan is a policy of genocide. Genocide does not mean physically killing everyone; this is not possible anyway. It wants to physically destroy the rebels and obstacles; true; but mainly it wants to carry out white genocide. The white genocide wants to remove people from their own truth, to keep them away from their reality and to make them unable to take care of themselves, to make people aimless, to chase a piece of bread, not to chase the country, and to make them prisoners of their motives. In this context, the Turkish state has made great efforts to carry out the white genocide. It is clear that an enhanced psychological warfare is being waged. Since the Eastern Reform Plan in 1925, the Turkish state has been trying to Turkify the Kurdish society by taking it out of its reality and surrendering it. That’s why drugs focuses on spying and immorality, namely prostitution. It carries out these privately by psychological warfare institutions, secret ways and methods among the Kurdish society. Its target is women and youth. If Kurdish women leave Kurdish culture, this becomes a ground for Turkification for them. Another is that if Kurdish youth move away from their own truths, Kurdish society will have no future. That’s why they focus more on women and youth.
What are the things that keep a people alive? It is their attachment to the land with their traditions, customs and morals of the society. If you cut off a person’s attachment to the land, deprive him of morality and alienate him from his traditions; it ceases to be human, becomes animal. That society does not exist. Everyone will be after money, daily food and stomach. They will not pursue spiritual-sacred things. Now the enemy wants to make our society that way. That’s why it went after young people.
We need to deepen our patriotism and social morality. In our society there are morals, there are traditions; we need to protect them. We need to be tied to the ground. We need to protect our land, water, culture and language. We exist with them. These are the values of society. If they do not exist, society ceases to be a society. The Turkish state and other colonialists want to advance Turkishness by making our society out of itself by these means and methods. In this context, our patriots, intellectuals, artists and politicians, everyone who says they are patriots, must fight and protect values. First of all, it is necessary to protect those who serve the values of this people, those who sacrifice for the existence and freedom of this people. Who are they? Those who serve the general are those who make sacrifices. For example, now it is necessary to protect those who are in the dungeons. Again, it is necessary to protect the guerrilla and its cadres. Do PKK cadres have any material interest in Kurdistan? None. Being a cadre is sacrificing everything for one’s country, people, culture, morals, dignity and purpose. Every guerrilla is like that. Every patriot must support the guerrilla. Every guerrilla is the son or daughter of a patriot. Every patriot should see the guerrilla as his son and daughter. Every prisoner should be treated like this. In other words, people who have sacrificed everything for their own society are the most beautiful souls in the world. These people live for their society, not for themselves. This is sacrifice. There is no one greater than those who sacrifice themselves for the cause. The greatest spirituality and beauty are in these people.
THERE IS NO THING IN HISTORY SUCH AS AGENCY
For example, in recent years, the enemy has given too much weight to spying in order to distance the society from its truth. If you act as a spy against your people, language and culture, if you report the guerilla who sacrificed himself for this for a few hundred dollars, there is nothing more infamous in the world and in the history of humanity. It is dishonorable and dishonest. For this reason, no one should accept such a situation in himself. No family, tribe, village should accept agents within itself. Our society should act and have an attitude against agents and spying. There is no need for anyone to assign a task for this, it is a natural task. You must protect your family, your tribe, your village. There should not be such a disgraced and dishonest person in that village. The greatest dishonesty is spying. Against this, patriots, everyone who calls themselves human, ‘I want to be an honorable person.’ Everyone who says ‘I want to be a patriotic person’ must have a struggle. It is the duty of these people to fight against agency, drug use and prostitution. All three of these things are what psychological warfare seeks to develop among our youth. Therefore, it is necessary to fight against these three things. But especially the enemy now wants to develop spying in every part of Kurdistan. It is very interesting; There are also four parts in Kurdistan. Especially capitalist modernity creates havoc on people. For example, there was tribal, family style; people had manners and morals. They didn’t sell themselves easily. But now capitalist modernity has turned everything into money. Now you look; A person can sell himself for very little money. There is nothing worse than selling yourself. This is a very deep thing; meanness is less than that. That is dehumanization. How can you consent to the martyrdom of Kurdish youth for a few hundred dollars? Is it possible for a person with an iota of conscience and a sense of humanity to do this? But today we see, it’s happening.
NO ONE SHOULD DIRTY THEMSELVES WITH AGENTS
Kochers are the simplest Kurds. They don’t go to many cities; they deal with herds on the mountain; plain-authentic Kurds. One can believe them. It was like this before. But now we see, they have organized agents even among the Kochers. It is also a call for Kochers, many of whom are patriotic; Everyone should focus on their home and family. Everyone has a phone in their pocket; some are weak and they drop them. Even the enemy stands above our martyred families. Whoever is the weakest among our valuable families wants to demote him and make him an agent. That’s why everyone needs to stay on top of himself and his family members. Everyone should be honest and clean, no one should dirty themselves.
The Turkish state has left the MIT members lying around and wants to pollute and disgrace everyone. He wants to bring everyone down with a few coins. Against this, a patriotic struggle is required. In Bashur, Bakur, Rojhilat and Rojava, our enemies are carrying out such intense work today. Patriots, intellectuals, artists and politicians, that is, those who represent the values of this people, must also struggle against these practices of the enemy. We should know that we cannot protect our social existence against the attacks of the enemy without creating a moral society that is connected to its land. We need to make patriotism, loyalty to the land the highest value. On this basis, we need to deepen morals and traditions in our people. Otherwise, we cannot exist. All of our patriots must see this as a natural duty and struggle.
If we create such a social struggle against the enemy’s spying, drugs and depravity practices, the power of our people, which we believe to be the strongest of all, will defeat the enemy’s plans and win.
KURDISTAN GUERILLA WILL WIN
Operations continue in Bakure Kurdistan. What would you like to say about the Bakur guerrilla?

Although the resistance has increased in the Medya Defense Zones in the last 3 years and the spirit of the Apoist sacrifice has reached its peak, a historical resistance has been carried out in Bakurê Kurdistan for 8 years with essentially the same spirit and self-sacrifice.
