Riot Against Anti-IRA Police Operation in Northern Ireland

Sixteen police officers were seriously injured following riots in the city of Derry, Northern Ireland, after bricks, paint and Molotov cocktails were thrown at them in the Stewarts Terrace area of Rosemount. The demonstrators were opposing police forces who were conducting searches during which firearms, grenades and explosives were seized and three people arrested. They are suspected of being linked to the New IRA.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old woman, who was arrested in Derry on Friday during searches during which police recovered a number of items, has been released. Police appear to have used drones to track key individuals suspected of being linked to the New IRA for several weeks to plan searches and locate weapons depots.
