Molotov Attacks on Cops in Commemoration of Javier Ordóñez Riots in Colombia

In Bogotá, Colombia, on the night of Saturday, September 9, during the commemoration of the murder of law student Javier Ordoñez, who was killed by police officers from the Villa Luz neighborhood, hooded militants attacked a police station with Molotov cocktails.

The tribute of the 3 years of this police killing sparked a wave of protests in various parts of the city.

As seen in security camera videos, the uniformed officers, members of the Dialogue Unit and Maintenance of Order (UNDMO), formerly ESMAD, were inside the Immediate Attention Center (CAI) station when they were surprised by the Molotov cocktails that crashed by their feet.

“The Javier Ordóñez protests refers to a series of protests and riots in Colombia. The protests started in Bogotá, the country’s capital, following the torture and murder of Javier Ordóñez by police officers while in custody on 9 September 2020. The unrest then spread to many cities throughout Colombia. As a results of the protests, 13 people died and over 400 were injured.
