“WHEN WE SAY WE’RE NOT GOING AWAY, WE MEAN IT”
Today, Saturday 9/12,/23, with stubborn smiles and self-confidence, we put our slogans into practice again and take our lives back. Dozens of comrades re-enter the garden we grow and learn to we live. We reopen our shelter and defend it so that it can welcome so many more generations. We light the oven and the stove and let our fire travel, sending our own signal of resistance to the struggling squatter movement. We climb the roofs of the shelter and we salute the sky with our fists, we send our kisses to all the world that perseveres and struggles We break the fear and take what is rightfully ours.
Although we are not generally and vaguely in favor of rights, for us it is a right to fight and take back – against the laws – what is ours. That we have made with our hands and minds. That it is dead and waiting to live through money like the thousands of empty houses in the city. We choose to give life to dead property. We bring empty houses to life like a painter does to a blank canvas. We value them, not for profit and real estate, not for the tourism industry. We give them social value, filling them with imagination and essential content. They thus begin to cover and create collective needs and desires without asking for anything in return. Workshops are held to build collective relationships of struggle, care and welfare beyond family, religion, state and non-governmental organizations.
Workshops are held to build visions for worlds without massacres and borders, without gods and masters. Such a workshop is also our place, at 75 Naxos & Krassa in Koliatsou of Patisia. 27 years workshop of subversive intentions, speech and actions against exploitation, oppression and injustice. 27 years of freed and open space in the neighborhood: to the dreamers, the excluded and the persecuted proletarians, the punks, the poor devils and the tramps, the theatres, the rebetisses and the poets, the freaks, the different, the incompatible minds and the unruly hearts , the addicts, the witches and the possessed, the old ladies, the high school kids and the little ones. 27 years against a shitty society where violent death from the bullets of racists and uniformed men, push backs and “wrecks” at the border, femicides, drownings in ports, falls on scaffolding, becomes a natural everyday occurrence in the minds and another video on children’s mobile phones.
For 27 years we have been learning the foundations of collective life and again crossing the paths of the struggle against all authority. For 27 years we have been speaking out in the world of property and we persist – we are here as many times as needed and from the beginning. Here where we went to school, where we have friends, where we work, where we live. Here where we loved our poor neighbors and hated the violence of the rich. We remain and fight for what has been stolen from us. We will not be chased away by the offspring of careerists and politicians who live in Kolonaki area.
We will not be chased away by the would-be owners/heirs of the Papaoikonomou family, the local landowners who live in the northern Suburbs, with dozens of properties in Patissia and on the islands. We make it clear to them that it will be very difficult to unseat us. We are everywhere in the neighborhood.
We will persistently circle around the huge cypress tree in the courtyard of the inn.
