Philippines: Three Maoist fighters Killed by the Army

Three New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas were killed in a clash with government troops in San Joaquin, Iloilo, on Tuesday morning.

Soldiers from the 61st Infantry Battalion hooked up with around 20 members of the NPA’s Panay Southern Front, Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay, in a wooded area on the edge of the villages of Lomboyan and Torocadan.

The army operation benefited from air support and artillery fire. Four M16 rifles and an AK47 were recovered at the scene.
