KBDH General Council: Let’s Raise the Struggle Against Attacks on Women Revolutionaries

Women and oppressed sexual identities all over the world, especially in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, are preparing for March 8 under the heavy attacks of patriarchal capitalism.

The male-dominated fascist Turkish state, on the other hand, continues to implement the order of the imperialist European states to “shoot women first” given to the units they established under the name of the “fight against terrorism”.

Especially in the Bakur, Bashur and Rojava parts of Kurdistan, women revolutionaries are arrested or murdered in attacks against the pioneers of the Kurdish Women’s Movement.

Every day a new one is added to the attacks against the Rojava Women’s Revolution, which was created with great labor and sacrifices under the leadership of women. Especially women pioneers are targeted in these attacks. Recently, YPJ commanders Fatma Sakan (Sorxwîn Rojhilat) and Emîne Seyîd Ehmed (Azadî Dêrik) were immortalized in the attack of the fascist Turkish state against the building of the Federation of Veterans of Northern and Eastern Syria.

Comrades Bîşeng Brûsk, a member of the Komalên Jinên Ciwan Coordination and PKK Youth Committee, and Sara Hogir Riha, a member of the Komalên Jinên Ciwan- Komalên Ciwan Executive, who took part in the historical resistance that narrowed the Medya Defense Areas with actions that took the breath away from the fascist Turkish state, were immortalized on July 28, 2023, in the air raids of the occupying fascist Turkish state. While commemorating our immortalized comrades with great respect, we reiterate once again that we are witnesses of how our immortal women comrades fought with great courage and sacrifice against all kinds of evil that the male-dominated fascist Turkish Republic has done and wants to do, and we promise that we will walk their path with them.

While women and oppressed sexual identities in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan continue their work for March 8 and local elections without slowing down, the AKP-MHP fascist misogynist alliance against women revolutionaries and politicians is also increasing the attacks of detention, arrest, sexual harassment and torture. Revolutionary activity is wanted to be prevented. The conclusion we can draw from this aggression of the enemy is, on the one hand, the fact that we are on the right path, but on the other hand, we must increase the work to frustrate these attacks. Because this is what we expect from women who are murdered, who are subjected to violence, harassment and rape every day, working women who are subjected to all kinds of labor exploitation, and oppressed sexual identities whose very existence is denied. The reality that at least 3 women are murdered every day is now expressed in larger numbers. 8 women are murdered in one day!

While the fascist AKP-MHP Alliance is trying to destroy women revolutionaries by the hands of the state, it does this with the hands of “the closest men” to all women masses. Violence, sexual assaults and murders against women and oppressed sexual identities are legally protected in male state courts. Women who practice self-defense are given heavy penalties. With its “sacred family” policies, it aims to dissolve and imprison women and oppressed sexual identities within that family.

The united struggle of women is to unite the struggle for women who are murdered every day by “the men closest to them” with the struggle against the male state attacks on patriotic, revolutionary, socialist communist women who struggle in the mountains, in prisons and in all areas of life. Our enemy is common, therefore our struggle must also be common.

Finally, while commemorating our immortalized women comrades once again, let’s make the upcoming March 8 a strong position where we will raise our united women’s struggle and hold the male state to account for trying to turn our lives into hell.

This is our promise to our immortalized women comrades. We will win!

Raise the rebellion against male domination and fascism! March for the women’s revolution!

Long live the united struggle of women!
