Women Always in Struggle

In the history of Colombia, of Our America and of the world we find exemplary struggles of women, who have stood up to capitalist domination from the daily life of their territories, leaving deep traces that became a guide and a path towards the construction of a different society.

The month of March is taken as a moment of commemoration of these heroic struggles that women have fought; it can also be a moment, not the only one, to analyze and project the content and value that we give not only to history, but also to the realities and challenges that we are configuring in terms of anti-patriarchal struggle. A pillar that is built and strengthened in our scenarios, to give meaning and defeat the relationship between capitalism and patriarchy. Inescapable for any political project that seeks a profound transformation of the society we live in today.

Women have had the need to formulate solutions and to push their struggles with vehemence, given the violence and subjugation that has been imposed on them, these ruptures went from being seen as domestic episodes, to being understood as expressions of slavery of the economic model; from the dignity of their struggle women have managed to build new logics, to energize the world, as a fundamental part in the construction of new realities and of the future.

In the world today it is still difficult to recognize the value and necessity of these struggles, the road is still quite long, but what has been advanced so far shows the path to follow; our processes must begin to work harder to strip away the remnants and traces of patriarchy, which we still carry within us. Recognition is not mere commemoration and taking on these struggles must be grounded in the deepening of the study and the profound awareness that capitalism and patriarchy go hand in hand, therefore both must be destroyed; this is the development of new masculinities and new ways of relating to each other between women and men.

The development of an insurgent popular feminism must begin to become another spearhead, another battle front in the war against the model of dispossession that commodifies, bestializes and subjugates us all; many women throughout history and the territories have already begun, wresting demands and configuring new scenarios; this confrontation and struggle of women will surely be stronger if we face it together, taking the example of enormous women who carried their commitment to the ultimate consequences, who today are an example and insurgent teaching. The history in which they have tried to erase the women warriors from life, should gain more strength and become a great emancipatory project of collective life.
