The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) announced the resumption of peace talks in Havana on Monday.
On February 20, the ELN had announced the freezing of peace talks, accusing the Bogotá authorities of failing to respect the rules agreed at the start of the talks, a charge which the government has since contested.
In early February, the two sides announced in Havana a six-month extension of the ceasefire, with a commitment from the guerrillas to end their practice of kidnapping.
Several rounds of negotiations with the ELN have already taken place in Venezuela, Mexico and Cuba, which act as guarantors along with the governments of Brazil, Chile and Norway.
In addition to these countries, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland are accompanying the talks, along with a representative of the UN Secretary General.
