Clashes Between Guerrillas and Security Forces in India

Two members of the security forces were seriously injured in a clash between security forces and Maoists on the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts, in the state of Chhattisgarh.

A joint team of police forces from Dantewada, Bijapur and Sukma districts had been deployed to conduct anti-Maoist combing operations in the Purangel and Pidiya area. The police clashed with guerrillas, leading to violent exchanges of fire.

Meanwhile, reinforcements en route to support the operation were ambushed: an IED explosion seriously wounded two soldiers of the Bastar Fighters, an anti-guerrilla unit. Two Maoists were killed in the ensuing operations.
