This morning (March 28), the Budapest court rejected Ilaria’s lawyers’ request for house arrest in Hungary.
Ilaria once again appeared in court handcuffed and leashed by a police officer. Lawyers, the translator and other supporters of Ilaria (including cartoonist Zero Calcare) were threatened and filmed in court by a group of far-right activists.
Ilaria is being prosecuted in connection with clashes between neo-Nazis celebrating their “Day of Honor.”.
She has been imprisoned in Hungary for 13 months. The next hearing is scheduled for May 24.
