Palestinian Solidarity Demonstrations Continue for Fifth Day in Amman

For the fifth consecutive day, the area surrounding the Zionist occupation embassy in Amman, the capital of Jordan, witnessed a large protest titled “Siege of the Zionist enemy’s embassy.” The remarkable turnout continued amongst extreme repressive behavior by the state.

Demonstrators demanded an immediate halt to the aggression on Gaza, an end to the blockade, and denounced attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The protesters called for the severance of all ties with the entity, including the cancellation of political, economic, and diplomatic agreements, halting the land crossing, and ceasing vegetable exports to the occupation.

They reiterated their call to support the resistance and establish land and air relief routes to Gaza, given the harsh siege imposed on the population.

The Jordanian Youth to Support Resistance lost of demands and reasons for besieging the zionist embassy are as follows:

1) Internal – To demand the cessation of vegetable exports and the land bridge to the zionists, to stop gas and water agreements, to overthrow the Wadi Araba Treaty, and to cut relations with the enemy.
2) Gaza – To let our voice be heard by our people in Gaza that we are with them and that we are their support, and to demand the breaking of the siege with a continuous Jordanian relief land bridge to northern Gaza through international institutions.
3) Arab – We aim to mobilize the Arab arenas in the West Bank and the occupied interior, Egypt, and the rest of the Arab capitals to be one nation behind Gaza.

Jordanians have persisted in their protests in the capital, Amman, as well as in several governorates, villages, and camps, since the onset of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, Amman witnessed a massive demonstration in solidarity with Gaza and in support of the Palestinian Resistance.

Demonstrators gathered near the Israeli embassy in Amman attempting to storm it, prompting Jordanian security forces to intervene and disperse the crowds using tear gas.

The protesters chanted slogans hailing the Palestinian Resistance and its leaders while condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

Chants included:
– “Those who opened the land bridge, and those who accepted normalization,: the people are disavowed from you; the people of Jordan do not sell out.”
– “Palestine, Palestine, your people are steadfast and will not yield.”
– “Jihad! Jihad! All of the people are ready!”
– “Despite our presence in the squares… O Gaza, we are still falling short!”
– “We are the generation with no solution, and a thorn in your throat we shall remain.”
– “O
Abbas, listen to me! Screw security coordination!”
– “No embassy! No ambassador! Get out, you pig!”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also released a solidarity statement:

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has called on the Jordanian authorities to release hundreds of young men and women who were arrested for their participation in the popular solidarity movement with the Gaza Strip, asserting that the pursuit and arrest of activists in this movement contradicts the official Jordanian stance announced against the zionist aggression on the [Gaza] Strip.

The Front emphasized the necessity for the Jordanian authorities to respond to the pulse of the Jordanian street, in all its components, which erupted in massive angry marches in solidarity with Gaza and in denunciation of the ongoing zionist genocide war, stressing that the demands of the popular movement in these massive demonstrations to cut relations with the occupation and to cancel the Wadi Araba agreement are just and legitimate demands agreed upon by the entire Jordanian people.

The Front saluted the massive and overwhelming marches of the authentic Jordanian people who came out as one man, their thunderous voice echoing in the squares of Jordan and in front of the embassy of the zionist enemy stating “Gaza is not alone and that the Jordanian people stand with it and will not stop their angry movement until the aggression is stopped and their demands are met,” affirming that these Jordanian popular positions represent the most eloquent and strongest messages of solidarity with the Palestinian people and a principled stand with the Palestinian resistance. Further, they also constitute a pressure card in the hands of the official Jordanian authorities against the zionist entity and its allies from the West that should not be wasted.

The Front concluded its statement by affirming that it is the duty of the Jordanian authorities to deal responsibly and seriously with this angry and overwhelming popular situation, by stopping all forms of pursuit, arrests, and summons on the basis of supporting Gaza, and to make an unambiguous and irrevocable political decision to completely cut relations with the zionist entity and cancel the Wadi Araba agreement.
