International Red Help Hosts Evening of Solidarity with the Lebanese PDP

The French-speaking sections of Secours Rouge International (Belgium, Geneva, Toulouse) are launching a campaign of solidarity with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lebanon.

Founded in 1972, this communist and revolutionary party is the result of the unification of various revolutionary organizations. It is one of the last left-wing parties in Lebanon that continues to participate in the resistance in all its forms against ‘Israel’ and that brings together activists of both Lebanese and Palestinian origin.

In Saida, a coastal city south of Beirut, the PDP has set up a popular clinic since 1985 that operates without any help from NGOs. Doctors who share socialist ideals come six days a week to treat more than a dozen patients a day. A dentist’s office and a general consultation can cover a wide variety of treatments, from gynaecology to orthopaedics and pulmonology. In addition to the clinic, a popular canteen is also organized by the PDP. The canteen was created during the covid crisis and has grown so large that it continues to this day, with more than 350 meals served a day.

The delegation that in 2023 went to Lebanon to meet different factions of the Palestinian resistance, will present its visit this Sunday, April 21 at 4 pm, at the political venue, Sacco & Vanzetti. This presentation will mark the launch of the international solidarity campaign with the PDP.
