On the western front in the Zap region, guerrillas intervened yesterday with semi-automatic weapons against soldiers who were searching the terrain in the Girê Cûdî resistance area with a detector. The squad then withdrew.

Deniz Aras Kobanê
Deniz Aras Kobanê was born in Kobanê and grew up in a family close to the Kurdish freedom movement. Her family members joined the liberation struggle and her big brother Aras Buzî was killed by the Syrian state in 2015. Deniz witnessed the resistance against the ISIS attack on Kobanê in October 2014 and joined the Rojava Defense Forces in 2017. After a short military training, she took part in liberation offensives against ISIS and was wounded in Deir ez-Zor. Her anger and determination were heightened by her injury and she continued her fight within a short period of time. She later went to the mountains to become a guerrilla, fulfilling a childhood dream.
In the mountains, Deniz stayed in various places in Xakurke and was amazed by the collective life in nature. She studied women’s liberation ideology intensively and read the writings of Abdullah Öcalan. She also continued to educate herself in military terms. She took on tasks in various fields of work and attached great importance to her identity as a free woman. At the same time, she was known everywhere for her selflessness. The HPG describe Deniz as an exemplary fighter for the Free Women’s Units (YJA Star).
Rustem Cûdî
Rustem Cûdî was born in Hakkari (Colemêrg) and grew up in a nomadic family. As a result, he was already involved in daily work as a child. Because the region was exposed to constant attacks, he experienced the hostility of the Turkish state even in his childhood. He only went to school for a few years and joined the guerrillas in 2014.
Rustem’s decision to engage in armed struggle was also a response to the Turkish-backed ISIS attacks on Kurdistan and Kobanê in particular. In Heftanin he completed the training for new fighters. With his enthusiasm for guerrilla life and under the influence of the cooperative relationships within the PKK, he set himself high goals. After an initial practical period in Bektorya, he completed specialist training in the use of heavy weapons at the Şehîd Mahîr Academy in 2015 and then came to Gare. Most recently he took part in the resistance against the Turkish occupation attacks in Xakurke.
